Hello everyone! How's everyone feeling today? Gosh. I felt super busy. And I really mean super busy. I had so much things to do today ): And, right now, I'm not done with my stuff. Anyway, today is like an Owe Money Pay Money (O$P$) day ): Had to purchase manuals and study guides. "Huh?! Why we need to pay for study guide?" That was the first question that came to my mind, when the mentors requested the class reprsentative to collect payment from the class. But, the good news is that our class, DPB110, had gotten all the manuals and textbooks! Yay-ness :D
Okay. First lesson for the day - Applications of Host Communications. WOW! It's a subject that requires me to communicate effectively with others. Be it my eye contact, body language or speech, I need to deliver my message clearly with an impact. At the start of the lesson, we played a small game. It's like charades. The whole class was laughing at those funny actions that the volunteers (including me) did. I was the second person in line. I couldn't understand what the message was about when the first person did the actions. After Miss Lee revealed the answers, I felt that I could do a better job relaying the message. The important point that I'd learnt is that you need to convey your message clearly. Otherwise, the other party will be unable to receive the correct message. We'll be having a speech presentation next wednesday ( class A) and the following wednesday (class B). The subject is " My favourite". I already have a topic in mind. Want to make a guess? It's my favourite subject, Project Work (PW). The speech must be ready by next wednesday. Gosh. I need to start preparing.
Next, was Fundamentals if Hospitality Hosting. Hospitality VS Service. Any idea what's the difference? Service is task-oriented whereas hospitality is people-oriented. People first, and not task first. Miss Leong told us that even as a chef, we need to communicate with our customers. We need to make them feel at home. *laughs* She's right. Nowadays, chefs
The attributes of a hospitable host :
- Warmth
- Care
- Respect
- Professionalism
I think that I'll be a exceptional host in the time to be (: *laughs* Bye~
